India as i know today as is home to 1.21 billion hearts pumping through the streets. It is the 2nd largest in population and 7th largest in economy in terms of nominal GDP and stands at no.87 on the corruption perception index. Corruption wise we are doing way better than Somalia and Chad but not nearly as well as Samoa or even closer home, Bhutan. Statistics don’t mean much to the layman, what matters is the quality of life that you and I lead on a day to day basis and above all the quality of life that the country is able to provide to the few hundreds of millions who live below the poverty line. Despite the per capita income now standing at a paltry Rs 46,492 there is still some cause for cheer. India is extremely affluent in terms of ordinary people she has birthed, who have set out to achieve stupendous results. For every thousand Indians, there may be one corrupt neta or one corrupt government babu but there are likely to be nine hundred and ninety nine Indians with well meaning intentions and who do not wish to see this country be popular for corruption and scams alone. These men and women are ordinary Indians with extraordinary thinking and striving to empower India.
A group of ex-IITians have come together to impart education to 450 school children in the remote village of Chamanapura in Bihar by starting a world-class facility. The methods involved in teaching are mainly via video conferencing, with the teachers spread out in different parts of India and some even as far as the United States. There is no electricity available as yet in this school and computers are run on generators. These IITians have metamorphosed the lives of 450 young Indians who are now computer savvy and are additionally the recipients of the best of knowledge in subjects ranging from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry from the most erudite lot in the country.
Then there is one amongst the CNN heroes of 2010, Narayan Krishnan. Krishnan was a chef with a five star hotel and he was set to take up a lucrative job in Switzerland. He had made a trip to the temple town of Madurai in 2002 and was appalled to see a very old man eating his own human waste. A CNN report quoted Krishnan “I saw a very old man eating his own human waste for food. It really hurt me so much. I was literally shocked for a second. After that, I started feeding that man and decided this is what I should do the rest of my lifetime. That spark and that inspiration is a driving force still inside me as a flame, to serve all the mentally ill destitutes and people who cannot take care of themselves,” Completely agonized by the image, Krishnan quit his job and decided to stay back in India and pave his own path of destiny. Krishnan went on to start his non-profit Akshaya Trust in 2003. In the last few years, Krishnan has served 1.2 million meals to India’s homeless, some mentally challenged, some abandoned by families, some even mentally and physically abused.
On a lot smaller scale, Ahambhumika, a non-profit organization started in Bhopal by ordinary Indians. The organization’s core objective is to educate rural women and young girls who work as stone crushers and in brick kilns. The “grain school” is a unique program that educates rural women in basic literacy. As an additional incentive, the organization provides grains and pulses to their families on a monthly basis. The children of these stone crushers are malnourished and invariably the families are shrouded in debts. The grain school is a wonderful initiative that empowers some twenty odd rural women to live respectfully by providing them with the required social conditioning as a first step to lead a civil life.www.ahambhumika.org
There are countless more in this society who do their bit quietly and stay demure about their achievements.Who define the Term Incredible India. These ordinary men and women are the real heroes of India, not the shirt-shedding, chest busting silver screen ones we whistle at. They give, they empower, and they enrich the lives of others with no ulterior motives. They are not after your vote, they do not make false promises and neither do they seek any financial leverage. They do what they believe they do best; to change the lives of others profoundly. In a society that births corruption and scams on a daily basis, there is also a new hero amongst us birthed daily. We constantly speak and preach about what the other should do, we rarely seek to bring about the change ourselves. Let the change begin in us now.
India has faced all the brutality from outsiders.America or Britain hasn’t. we know how outsiders invade our house, and beat ourselves in our own houses. That’s why the Government didn’t create a liberalisation in India after Independence, due to fear of another attack(ppst.. East India Company also came for buissnes means ,and then due to jealousy invaded it).
But liberalism came to India in 1991,which was too late.Or today Reliance would have been a global company and Dhirubhai Ambani would have been a global icon.Everyone knows that the marketing views of Chankya are referred even today and applicable in today’s scenario, and 40% of sillicon valley comprises of IITians and IIMites.
But this the story Indians don’t love india.Indians feel pride in bill gates but not in Narayan Murthy, not in J.R.D Tata….they fell happy when Obama gets elected as president but 27% dont even know who is our prime minister or president.NOW THAT’s NOT A WAY TO BECOME A BUDDING SO CALLED “””SUPERPOWER”””…
If you are an indian feel proud bro..,,,one day will come when an american will talk in hindi ,and say काश अमेरिका भारत जैसा होता …
Karan Malhotra’s Agneepath has all emotions, actions, revenge, and entertainment packed up together, so you need not think twice to enjoy the ride for 3hrs. All the characters have been given a new fresh look since it was very well known to the Directors that there will tons of comparisons with the old movie lined up. Karan’s work cannot be said as a work of a debutant director. Well done!!
The actual power in this movie lies in the hands of the director & the script writers who never loosened their grips on the flavor of the film. There is no such moment in the movie which seemed to be boring or extras to the viewers. There have been sequences between Vijay & Kancha face to face which numbed the whole audience. Such scenes are created by a fresh director is totally unbelievable.
The music of the film has been given by Ajay-Atul. Except Chikni Chameli (an item number by Katrina Kaif) which have the hit chartbuster, all other songs are melodious to listen. Even, in the item song of Chikni Chameli, Katrina looked sultry gorgeous & although it was added as a movie hype, the song was very well placed in the movie in the correct time unlike other films where all of a sudden a song pops up. Screenplay by Ila Bedi Datta and Karan Malhotra & dialogues by Piyush Mishra are a masterpiece flawless job done. Cinematography done by Kiran Deohans and Ravi K. Chandran is a class in itself.
Hrithik Roshan does justice to his role as Vijay Dinanath Chauhan. His wonderful job have overflowed the theatres with applauds & praises of the audience. The best of all, Sanjay Dutt as Kancha has been excellent. The negative role has surpassed his previous negative roles in Khal Nayak & Vaastav this time. He has succeeded to create a hatred for Kancha amongst all heart & souls.
Even Rishi Kapoor has been impressive. Priyanka Chopra was perfect. Zarina Wahab also suited the role. Actually, each & every cast has been perfect & brilliant.
“Tum kya leke aye the,, kya lekar jaoge..reh jayega sirf ek sarv-shaktishaali, sarv-shaktimaan Kancha”—Sanju Baba’s rib crashing dialogue with the threatening laughter & his scary bald look stands as the U.S.P of AGNEEPATH.
It has been a magnificent job done by Dharma Productions. 1990′s AGNEEPATH & today’s AGNEEPATH cannot be compared. Being the same root, they have emerged differently & both are splendid. Heartiest salute to Mr.Amitabh Bachchan and hats off to Hrithik.

Most people think that IIT JEE is very difficult examination. However, JEE is only a different examination.
One thing certain is IIT JEE requires a very systematic preparation. Earlier you start preparing for it the better.
JEE defers from conventional board exams in one major way. Tests your fundamentals of the subject and your ability to think logically and analytically.
To begin with, you must arrange for professional guidance, if you do not have one available at home. Secondly, practice of solving JEE level problems being of paramount importance, you must have access to enough recommended books / notes.

(1.) You can get join postal / classroom coaching.
(2.) You can try and get old postal coaching material from students who have appeared for JEE recently.
(3.) Buy or have access to various reference books for the subjects. (Lists are available on the net.)
Getting yourself motivated and keeping up the tempo is not easy. Load of HSC and JEE together can be very tough. So, if you are convinced read a lot about IITs, understand why you want to be in IIT and prepare for long, systematic preparations for it. I would recommend you should start preparing for JEE, immediately after Xth, if you have not started earlier!
The IITJEE is the Joint Entrance Examination conducted by the IITs for admission in the six IITs , ITBHU and ISM Dhanbad.
The IITJEE is aimed at selecting the best candidates from the country .It is considered the most competitive examination after 12th standard. About 2.5 % of the total students, appearing, are able to get through (entry ratio is even less than that of Stanford University!).
The entrance examination consists of :
The Main Examination of three separate papers in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, each of two-hour duration, for those who qualify in the Screening Test. the mains in first week of april.
The general norm is that the JEE is a difficult examination and the questions are complex and tough. This is not true. It is merely a different exam. It examines your basic concepts, logical aspects and your ability to apply fundamentals to multi-conceptual problems. All it requires is a proper examination temperament and different approach to the subject than most of the other exams. Added to this, it also tests your ability to work efficiently without getting p
ressures in. It is also a test of your psychology. To solve the typical JEE like problems you have to think in many dimensions.
However, The question papers of JEE are most involved as compared to any other similar competitive examination. The process of formation of JEE papers is pretty complex. Questions are invited from various professors from different IITs. From this list, few questions are finalized, so the professor himself doesn’t know whether his question is there or not. All the possible solutions of questions are also made. The result of mains exam is declared in about 20 days from the day of examination.
To have optimum success in entrance & avoid failing one has to develop excellent examination temperament besides knowledge of the subject and problem solving skills.
What is needed for the IIT-JEE is :
An analytical mind and planned strategic approach.
Students with high IQ level can extract the information from the teacher even in a large group, plethora of books and study material available. Other students get confused due to flood of information and study material. One needs to have a definite plan with well defined helps and sources of information to produce optimum results. Students normally neglect Chemistry which is most scoring and do not pursue Physics in a proper way. Preparing Physics for the JEE needs more attention besides acquiring highly polished analytical skills. To help you with these things see all the topics of this site and I assure you that if they are probably followed , they will bring a big difference in your rank and hence life and career.

Hard work is indispensable for JEE:
If you are intelligent that’s good but intelligence alone is NOT going to get you in IIT or in AIEEE or in BITSAT. I have seen many people who are very intelligent and because of their intelligence they overestimate themselves and study less and end up getting a low rank in JEE. But I am not saying that any hard working person can make it to IIT. You need a certain degree of caliber but need not be a genius.
The second most important requirement is guidance. Hard work is bow, intelligence is arrow and guidance gives you the direction of target. Then only your arrow will hit JEE’s target.
Third thing is motivation. Nobody can force you to study for IIT. For working so hard for IIT you need a lot of motivation. Most (almost all) of the top rankers study for the whole two years single heartedly for JEE. For these 2 years they leave all their comforts for JEE. Like Arjun, you must only see JEE (the eye of bird) and nothing else
The fourth thing is Temperament. Temperament plays a vital role for success at IIT-JEE. Nervousness can decrease performance to such an effect that a student getting expected to get a top rank in JEE, fails to even qualify. Solving full papers, preferably in exam atmosphere can improve your temperament. Test series offered by some classes could be of help. If you do not have access to such series, try solving old papers with alarm set and correct it from solutions available.”
Interview With Another IITian
“Today compitation is very hard“–I have heared people saying so. Are they true . I don`t think so. when i thik honestly over it i found that really today comptation is not tough, but really the no. of compitants are big , that is other thing weather they are able 4 it or not.
Friends! Today i want to share myself after all of u. when i was a school going student of class 11th. and very true i also want to crack IIT. Really this is not my aim of life but it is one of the stoping station of my journey, the stopze of my journey will be with when i will be the richest man of the world.
We use to waste our precious time and energy over thinking that how to prepare 4 IIT and what should be the right stategy 4 it. This is really not the rule . What be the rule we have to be dedicated on it. But u may change in ur statgy as ur experience inreases. So just go and make a routine 4 study and be dedicated to it.
We go on a very simple thinking that ` `today the condition is not in my favour, i wail do that very thing tomorrow“. tomorrow goes on tomorrow and tomorrow and so on so on ……….! And one day we have to face our exams and we get dippressed, is not it? Well. We creat problems 4 ours. MOST OF THE PEOPLE REALLY WANT TO GET SUCCESS BUT THEY DON`T WANT TO WORK OR SPANT THEIR TIME. EDUCATION MEANS–THE PROGRAMME IN WHICH WE WASTE 1/4TH OF OUR LIFE TO KNOW THAT HOW TO WASTE OUR 3/4TH LIFE.
As hard as u work luck favours u so much. remember everyone have only 12 hrs to work , but in this 12 hrs one is BILL GATES and one is working under him.
Well i would like to tell everybody one thing that is extremely important to know while preparing for the IITs, and that is, if u think u r extremely good at school then it does not necessarily mean you are intelligent or brainy and end up having high hopes that u can get into any one of the IITs.
The reason is very simple, at school u don?t need brains to do well in your exams, u need lots of memory and hours of hardcore mugging! But at a place like IIT – JEE, its insane to even think u can mug, because the syllabus is designed for people who can think!
I have seen people who have scored around 65% – 70% in their boards, but end up with very good IIT – JEE ranks at the end. So now I hope u can differentiate between true intelligence and true ?mug – pots?
According to me no bloody school exam can ever judge the true intelligence of a student, but at IIT it shows it all! At school all of us mug our heads off and the better the mugging the more intelligent we all seem to the teacher?s and parent?s eyes!
True intelligence can be found and discovered only at the IIT – JEE, so why not prove yourself there, rather than waste time mugging and falling under the illusion that u r intelligent, genius etc:- after seeing your class scores!
So the bottom line of the above text is.. Stop putting IIT – JEE and your ?performance in school? in the same side of the coin, ?cos if u do.. you would be committing the biggest blunder of your life.
IIT is always a word which rises a energy through the body. But to achieve it you have to drain out the entire energy out of your body. Preparing for IIT is not a week or month job. It needs years of effort. From 11th onwards the whole ?energy? has to be squezed out.
A proper oranization is always the primary task for all preparation.
1.) Make yourself a week plan and a month plan before you work.
Never put down all your awake time in studies. Effiecency is the primary target. Divide the day into 4 – 6 sections of 2-3 hours. For every successful period take a 15-30 minutes reward. It boosts your energy.
2.) Regular exercise is always a must. allocate about 30 minutes of the day for this.
You can choose ?exercise time? during the time you feel sleepy or fed-up.
3.) Do a subject continously for a long period. Each time you change the subject you lose a lot of time. (transition time is a lot
on thinking) .
4.) Crash your leisure programmes when you don?t go on plan then make a better plan for next week
5.) Write in black n white the portions covered and try to match it with the plan.
6.) A sleep of 5.5 hr is a must!!!!
7.) During the ?Hike? of tension cool youself by meditating or by jst running arround!!
1.) Regularly solve model papers and keep checking the time. This enhance confidence and shows the pons and cons of ur studies.
2.) Be up to date. All HW must be done in time.
3.) make yourself comprehensive notes and small skecthes. (make them attractive)
4.) Be perfect in solving maths problems. Never make a situation that will make u revise back through it. The best way I adopted was from my teacher. ??Enjoy Maths!!?? and do it when you are totally freacked out. On doing problems during ?freaking? time you intially tend to make mistakes. But this soon will be a boon when you get freaked out during exams. You will be ready to move through even when u r freaked. ( this was my success key for 100 in maths exams.)
5.) Be prepared with all type of questions.
6.) Go through guides daily. In the last moment u won?t be able to do it.
ANOTHER IITian’s view:
Here goes one more article for SUCCESSFULL PREPARATION FOR IIT JEE . If you are sure the way you are preparing is quite OK for you. DONT READ BEYOND THIS.
But if you think you need guidence just read this and ponder over it for a while and then set into action right away!
Let me 1st tell you something abt myself. I was preparing for IIT JEE 2006 for the pst one and a half year. And during this period i?ve oserved that the only thing required for a meaningful preparation is to have a BURNING DESIRE to excell. This is fortunately the only requirement or eligiblity, what ever you call it. And belive me this is not easy. In todays world there are so many other IMPORTANT things, like Surfing, Dating, Music, Movies, Food…. Hai na? Keep your Eyes SHUT for them. Wear blinkers to the outside world if required. Guests who are well wisher of yours, would never expect you to come and socialise with them when ever they visit your place. I Hate GUESTS. We are taught, ?ATITHI DEVO BHAWAH? But I would rather feel the world better without them.
Good Planning is a great virtue. From This Date, only 8 months are left. Leave 2months for REVISION AND SELF ASSESSMENT TESTs. So you have at the most 6 months for preparation. If you havent started yet, This is high time 4 you to do so. Don?t worry. Belive in yourself. Daily study for 12 hrs ( Sincerly ) and you get through it. Concentrate only on the Basics. Though I strongly belive to study from books according to my power of perception and understanding, at least from my average level of brain, I can suggest you the following books if you share the same understandning power.
Maths : Asit Das gupta prasad for IIT, ML Khanna
Physics : H.C verma ( Vol I and II ) is enough. If not you can add 3000 solved problems in physics ( Mcgraw Hill Publication )
Chemistry : G.D. Mishra, P Bhadur or R.C. mukharjee.
The Only Thing I say abt. books is decide once and stick to it unless you are thru it throughly. Never flicker amoung books you will ruin you time that way.
Don’t pray to god to get you thru the gateway of IIT, pray only to help you to keep the desire to excell burning withn you , pray not to let your mind deviate from the path you’ve once decided. Rest your hard work will make you achieve your cherished ambition and you be prevaileged to be called with those wonderfull words i.e. IITian.
I wanted to write more but since the time does’t permitts. So off i go. One thing i would like to add is Internet the BEST source to kill time so go wath out the time you spend over it.
People who are really intrested for a chat or talk over the topic of preparing for IIT JEE can mail me firstname.lastname@example.org or call me (0657) 2303851, 2142117.
So with all your honest and determination rush to your study table YOUR TIME STARTS NOW !!! “
Last Sec Tips:
1.) Never start studying during the last month.
2.) keep covering pages at a fast pace
3.) Question yourself where you feel you are doubtful.
4.) Never leave calculations. Keep doing always. Once you stop your marks stops!!
5.) Have confidence
Always be cool and smooth. Never let tenion eat you u up. Aske the parents to keep an eye on yu always. Otherwise you may not be studying always.
Be motivated, encouraged and struggle.
It is afterall not a miserable fight.
What is it that makes 3 letter word, a matter of life & death. When a student is just having the time of his life, beginning to enjoy the last 3 years of school, at the same time he is burdened with the thoughts of being an IITian. Sometimes, the thoughts come from within and mostly from the pressure of his family.
Does a 16 year old child give up everything & devote himself only to become an IITian??
I see a boy named Sam with a pair of thick glasses who keeps himself locked in a room and is seen out is when he is hungry.
I get excited each time the door bell rings or the phone trings. But this boy runs back to the room & prays to God, “Please not my friends again”, he is scared to go out & play. He believes a football or for that matter any game will act as a force, that is bound to distract, from achieving his goal.
I felt really sad for him, he needed some change, he was not like others. I thought he is little abnormal. How a simple game or simple outing can deviate a person’s thought. I could never imagine a person giving up everything for a goal.
Later, that evening I discussed this matter with an experienced person, he evaluated everything, then expressed his thoughts, and said. It is good to have a goal, a vision. Until & unless, you don’t have a goal in life the purpose of life fails.
The boy is quiet clever to having set a goal at an early age.
This 5 minutes conversation changed my way of perceiving things, earlier I use to make fun of little kids, who use to say I want to fly a plane, & would run away with a paper plane or a kid with a screw-diver & claim themselves as super engineers, but with the change in my perception, I realized, if you really wish for something, it is bound to fall under your umbrella,
Thinking of being an IITian is not impossible or tough. A single thought of becoming big, introduces you to a life which has a goal, a purpose to live for.
Now, when I look at Sam. I truly appreciate his efforts. The best part about IIT or any competitive exam is, it teaches discipline, even if you don’t get through it, the time of preparation, is whole lot of learning experience. Do not just value the end result, work hard, stay focused as nothing stands in front of a willing heart & strong determination.
Every day I try to forget ‘Aamir‘ and every day, the film seems to come up in discussion, the papers or as a TV spot. For over a week, I’ve been trying to tell myself, it’s only a film. But try as I might, I cannot calm down the negative vibes it has evoked in me.
The fact that it is shot in Chor Bazar, Bhendi Bazar, Dongri, the areas that I grew up in, where I still have family, where my family still has family and friends, makes it difficult for me to view the film objectively. In my childhod, these areas were mohallahs, not ghettoes, as they have become now.
And I wonder, how did these traditional community enclaves become ghettoes? Is it due to overcrowding and a breakdown of infrastructure? Is it due to the takeover by communal and criminal elements? Or is it due to a changed perception of a community?
The director of ‘Aamir’ professes that the film is the story of a common person, and how easily a common man today can become a victim of elements beyond his control.
The dangerous part of the film is how every common man from Andheri to Dongri, in fact, seem to be part of the terrorist network, connected to Pakistan, actively a part of the terrorist nexus, or at least passively aware of it. From the taxi-driver at the airport to the seemingly friendly prostitute in the dingy lodge in Dongri, from restaurant owner to waiter to STD phone booth woman, from the manager of the lodge, petty gangsters to junk-yard workers, and countless other nameless, unidentified faces, they form a malevolent, hostile and inescapable trap for any innocent.
‘Aamir’ perpetrates the worst myths about Indian Muslims.
1. That most of them live in ghettoes.
2. That they live in filth and squalor.
3. That they do nothing to come out of it.
4. That they eat and butcher meat, and that enhances their inherent violence.
5. That they are more attached to the larger Islamic community rather than their own country.
6. That they get a huge amount of money from outside to fund their terrorist activities here.
7. That most of them are connected somehow with the terrorists or the underworld. Actively or passively.
8. That an outsider cannot say who or who may not be involved.
9. And of course, that anyone, who makes any attempt to get out of the larger community will still at the end be subsumed by it, becoming part of the terrorist nexus due to circumstance, or become a victim to it.
i want everyone to know….
Every terrorist is not a muslim…..
Every muslim is not a terrorist…..
These are as absurd as the myths that all Gujaratis are right-wing Hindu fundamentalists, all Biharis are thieves and crooks, all Maharashtrians are lazy, unfriendly and insular, all Goans are amiable drunks and all Sikhs are either fools or trouble-makers.
The trouble with the film is that it is very well-shot. Anyone, who has anything at all to do with film-making in Mumbai will know how difficult it is to execute a shoot like that, given the crowds and traffic here.
That combined with the narrative form of a man chasing against time to save his loved ones, in fact, does not give any space for the protagonist Aamir, to be well-defined as a character. The one dialogue that makes his stand clear, that he believes that each person can make their own destiny, that they can pull themselves out of their circumstances, gets lost in the thrill of the chase. And of course, by the countering dialogue of The Bad Man who asks if this is the destiny (that is trying to save his family) is what he has chosen.
The Bad Man however gets enough time to repeat ad nauseam his stand on the Muslim issue, spending a lot of precious time haranguing Aamir about Islam, his responsibilities to the community, his infidelity in having a Hindu girl friend, not caring enough to send money to fund terrorist activities, and so on. To the extent, that it gets one wondering whether The Bad Man is more keen on teaching Aamir a fundamentalist lesson in Islam, or he wants him to get on with the job.
Was The Bad Man seriously hoping to convert Aamir to the terrorist cause, by kidnapping his family, having him wade through shit, not letting him drink water (a very un-Islamic thing to do, by the way, because not giving someone a glass of water when they ask for it, is tantamount to a sin in Muslim households), having him beaten up??
In the same vein, it is not clear why Aamir, an innocent and reluctant man, has to be emotionally blackmailed into putting a bomb in a bus, after a complicated, convoluted journey through the city, when it would be the easiest thing in the world for any one of The Bad Man’s minions to walk into a crowded bus with a bomb, leave it there, and walk away, without any trace.
But of course, The Bad Man is a dark, bald, fat, meat-eating monster who shuns light, and sits in a dark room all day. He exudes menace when he holds up a kid, and then proceeds to beat up a toy monkey. So perhaps, one can expect only illogical planning from him.
SHINE COMES TO STUDENTS WHO HAVE CRACKED ONE OF THE MOST TOUGH EXAMS IN INDIA…THE IIT-JEE .BOT THIS SCENE IS FOR ONLY 2% OF THE TOTAL STUDENTS PARTICIPATING STUDENTS..REST 88% ARE JUST STUNNED.THE EXAMS FO WHICH THEY WOKE DAYS AND NIGHTS.,ARE JUST OVER…..
BUT WHY THIS SCENARIO.WORLD IS NOT ONLY IIT.THERE IS ANOTHER INSTITUTE HAVING SAME CALIBER AND BRAINS AS THAS……T OF IIT.,THE NIT,BUT NO CHILD DREAMS OF ENTERING IN NIT.,EVERYONE WANTS TO GRADUATE FROM IIT.
NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY,,,OR GENERALLY REFERRED AS TO NIT,,WHICH ARE SECOND MOST TO IIT,s IN GRADUATION.AND TODAY.,AS MORE AND MORE STUDENTS ARE BECOMING SMARTER,,IN FUTURE SURELY NIT’s WOULD ALSO COMPETE IIT’s
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru sought to develop India as a leader in science and technology. The Government started fourteen RECs between 1959 and 1965, atBhopal, Allahabad, Calicut, Durgapur, Kurukshetra, Jamshedpur, Jaipur, Nagpur,Rourkela, Srinagar, Surathkal, Surat, Tiruchirappalli, and Warangal. It established one in Silchar in 1967 and added two others between 1970 and 1990, located atHamirpur, and Jalandhar. The success of technology-based industry led to high demand for technical and scientific education. Due to the enormous costs and infrastructure involved in creating globally respected Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), in 2002 MHRD Minister Murli Manohar Joshi decided to upgrade RECs to “National Institutes of Technology” (NITs) instead of creating IITs. The central government controls NITs and provides all funding. In 2003, all RECs became
